With hope and vision, Hope Presbyterian
Church was chartered in May, 1966. It was the hope of the founding
members to create a place of worship, nurture and mission centered
around Jesus Christ.
In the 1980's, it became clear that the needs of the church and the
needs of the community are inseparable. A new vision began to emerge,
calling for a combination of meaningful worship and purposeful social
outreach. The dream of Hope was to become a church which utilized
expertise of social service agencies' to enhance the church's emphasis
on providing sanctuary, peace and God's unconditional love.
Thanks to more than 3,500 hours of volunteer help, in 1990, this new
vision took physical form when the new Community Ministry Center and
sanctuary were dedicated. The Community Ministry Center has provided a
home for not-for-profit social agencies at "less-than-market" rates and
through the work of these agencies, many lives have been touched.
