Hope in Action Week
Hope in Action Week is a special week (or two!) each year where we go outside the church doors and serve the community. We have an event each day of the week so check out the schedule with the button below and join us!
See more photos on our Facebook page.
Hope for the Holidays
Each year, we host a juried fine art and craft fair right in the halls of Hope! The proceeds from the vendor booths and raffle go to our overseas missionaries.
Organizations we Serve
Here at Hope, we believe in missions right here in our community. That's why we support many groups and organizations within Springfield and the surrounding area. We believe in each other, the power of prayer and the value of a seed sown. We believe in walking the walk and talking the talk like Christ did in his early ministry. Come join us in any of our missions and help us serve our community.
Kumler Ministries
Our gardeners grow and harvest fresh vegetables and deliver to the pantry and soup kitchen; coin collection each week goes to the ministry; hygiene and paper goods are collected each month for their homeless ministry; and collecting cans of chili each month for their food pantry.
Get Well Bears
These are given to various church members as part of the new "Bear Paws" program that seeks to spread a bit of good cheer.
Caregivers
We provide volunteer drivers to transport care receivers within the community to doctor appointments.
Habitat for Humanity
This year, we participated with eleven other Presbyterian churches in two builds as well as serving two meals to the work crews.
Jane Addams School
This partnership allows us to support the students with basic necessities (hygiene products, food, school supplies and clothing), as well as serve an Appreciation Lunch for the teachers and staff.
Life Time Pregnancy Center
We do a bottle drive for this organization.
Mom and Me Camp
This is a summer camp for incarcerated women and their children at the Lincoln and Decatur Correctional Centers.
Sojourn Shelter
Once a month, we serve the women and children here a warm meal and lots of love. In addition, we adopt a family at Christmas and provide for them a Christmas that otherwise would not happen.
Springfield Overflow Shelter
We prepare several meals during the winter months.
St. John's Breadline
We collect plastic soup containers every month to donate to the breadline for take out meals.
The James Project
We prepare meals for foster care families and also do a diaper drive each year.
General Building Use
We host several chapters of Gamblers Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, Alzheimer's support groups, art therapy groups, student music groups, daycare support groups and music organizations. Hope is a busy place!
Reading is Fundamental
We are a receiving and distribution center during the regular school year for local schools and groups.
Free Library
We have three locations for members and the community to use free reading material.
Fashion Forward
This is a fun and free clothing 'store' for our youth who want to update their wardrobe or simply need clothing. They can bring their friends; there is a fitting room and lots to choose from.
Missions
Our youth and supporting adults travel somewhere around the U.S. every year to provide building and cleaning, as well as spiritual, support to an organization.
Events to help Fund our Mission Work
Men's Pancake Supper, Hope for the Holidays Fine Arts Fair, Garage Sales
