Lent
Lent – Ash Wednesday – Ashes to Go and Evening Service
Lent is a season of the church in which we tend to our spiritual life. Some people give up habits or take on habits in preparation for Holy Week and the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
Each Lent is a journey. Our journey begins with ashes as a reminder of our mortality. Then we move along with the Son of God to witness God’s love, grace and peace to the finality of death on the cross, burial in the tomb, and new life on Resurrection Day. May God inhabit our lives and teach us how to Pause, Breathe, and give thanks to God for new life!

Maundy Thursday
Maundy Thursday Service with Communion, Tenebrae Service of Shadows and Candlelight
Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter. In this service, we remember the new commandment Christ gave us teaching us how to love one another, washing our feet as a servant in humility and intimacy. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper (Communion), remembering not just the last meal Christ shared with his disciples before his death but also the meaning behind our serving communion. Come for all are welcome at the table.
Luke:22:19-20 Then he took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood

Hope For Long Nights - Holiday Season
These long nights of winter can feel isolating and leave us feeling a bit down. Grief, loss, struggles in the world around us, in the families and friends near us, the rush and busyness of the holidays---all of these and many other things in our lives can certainly leave us feeling less than jolly. For a number of years Hope has had a meditative, contemplative service in the first week of December to combat some of the uneasiness and sorrow that are part of the holidays, though often go unrecognized and unaddressed. This service of worship has formerly been called “Blue Christmas” which is a nod to the Elvis Presley song of the same name. The intention of the service is focus on the hope that God sends to a hurting world in the person of Jesus, and it encompasses difficult times and holidays other than just Christmas. A name change became necessary for this service to be planned and offered as a source of “Hope for Long Nights” at this time of year, and to recapture the brightness of the light that God makes available to us in Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit. Welcome to all who come seeking hope, meditation, candlelight, and promise offered in faith and reflection.
Christmas Eve
Enjoy a Lessons & Carols service ending with Candlelight and singing “Silent Night” to ring in Christmas.
We light candles of hope, peace, joy, and love, remembering the promises of God, as we watch and wait for Christ’s coming! “Good news of great joy,” the angel said, “for to you a savior is born.” “Peace on earth,” the choir sang, “for God reigns in the highest.” “Follow me,” the star beckoned, “For Hope was born in Bethlehem.” As we light the Christ candle, we watch for the Christmas miracle unfolding around us. Emmanuel has come to us and we await his coming again. Come, all ye faithful, and worship God.
We Are Sent Forth to Serve - We pass the Light of Christ to each other as we are called to take our light into the world.
